im a teen and I went vegan a few months ago. I've begun to be concerned about getting enough B12, but I have trouble swallowing pills. Do you have any recommendations of how to make sure I'm getting enough without having to swallow a pill? | Totally Vegan Buzz

If you have a Holland and Barrett store near you (or you can shop online) they have an oral B12 spray, i have this for my children, just spray directly into the mouth and away you go, it’s peach flavour too. Hope that helps.

We eat mainly vegan in my family, and one of the things me and my sisters are in love with is Engevita Nutritional Yeast Flakes with B12. We add it to foods, eat it like a condiment, in sauces/burger mixes, or on pasta with a small amount of melted margarine/butter substitute (but that’s a bit more extreme ?). You can buy it in Holland and Barretts, or online – Amazon is good. Hope that helps! ?

I used to have a b12 deficiency when I was eating dairy and chicken. Needed shots when I was 12 and in my 20s. Been vegan almost a year and had my bloods done a few weeks ago, b12 and iron was perfect! I use a spray, you can buy it from health food places like Holland and Barrett. Check the spray is vegan before buying. It tastes nice. Plus I eat lots of yeast flakes which I make "cheesey" mash potatoes with, put it in pasta sauce etc. Also lots of alternative milks and soy yogurt are fortified with b12, it says on the label usually. Oh and also marmite has lots of b12. And tofu has lots of iron! If you’re worried though, just get your bloods done by a doctor, as some people have trouble absorbing b12 even if they eat meat! My problem when I was young I think was just from bad eating, cheap, processed foods. Where as a vegan you have to cook fresh or from scratch more, and in turn you get a much more balanced diet.

Hey! I don’t take supplements and have marmite on toast for brekkie every day as it’s a good source of b vits. Marmite is a love or hate thing though so this might not help! Just don’t live off junk food……easier said than done when you’re a teenager I know ? x x x

All good ideas. Another source if your family or a friend’s has a Sam’s membership is their chewable B-12 tablet. It’s also gluten and lactose free and has no artificial colors or flavors. Hope this helps.

Hi, if its a tablet simply crush it up. Then it will melt it your mouth. If it tastes horrible then put the crushed tablet in a shot of vodka or whisky haha, win win.

Oh and i suppose you could get fortified milks etc etc ……….but whisky tastes soooooo good.
