“The older I’ve got, the more I love and need spice with every single meal.”

 Grammy Award-winning artist Ed Sheeran, known for his chart topping “Shape Of You” hit, has announced the launch of his very own hot sauce line.

The new brand, called Tingly Ted’s, is the result of a collaboration between Sheeran and the Kraft Heinz Company. The company came on board as soon as they heard Sheeran’s lifelong love for ketchup and hot sauces.

 The pop king and his team of experts have been working on the range for almost two years.

Tingly Ted’s is named after Ed’s childhood nickname. It is the newest launch in the ever-growing hot sauce category. It comes in two delicious flavours: the medium spiced Tingly Sauce and the much spicier Xtra Tingly.

“I had a year of whittling down the perfect flavors with a great mixing team, and we settled on two absolute belters: The Tingly and the Xtra Tingly,” Sheeran said.

“I’ve had them on tour with me recently to try them with all sorts of meals, and there really isn’t anything they don’t go with (except bananas—don’t do that).”

‘Can’t wait for people to try it’

Tingly Ted’s sauces are made with red jalapeños and capsicum chillies.  The recipes also contain “fresh lemon notes and a smoky flavour that make the red jalapeño and capsicum chillies sing, along with a mix of herbs and spices that all infuse together to make your tongue tingle.”

The products are vegan-friendly with absolutely no added colours, artificial flavours or preservatives. The bottle is fully recyclable and made with recycled materials. However, they’re not halal or kosher certified. The brand also adds that although there is no gluten in the ingredients, the product is not certified as gluten-free.

Rafael Oliveira is the president for international markets at Kraft Heinz. She said: “We invited Ed to collaborate and moved quickly to develop a recipe that brought his vision to life.

“The rest is history, and here we are with a delicious addition to our Taste Elevation platform, which is all about enhancing food with great flavour.

“We can’t wait for people to try it.”

According to the ketchup makers, Tingly and Xtra Tingly ‘are the perfect squeeze for your fries, nuggets, falafels, fried chicken or, quite honestly, any meal at all!’

This isn’t the first time the two parties have collaborated. In 2019, Kraft Heinz teamed up with Sheeran for a custom ketchup recipe to mark the company’s 150th birthday.

The company created a Heinz Tomato “Edchup” with a special Ed-inspired tomato emoji on every bottle.

“I love sauces; that’s no secret,” Sheeran said.

“But the older I’ve got, the more I love and need spice with every single meal.”

Tingly Ted’s can be pre-ordered for £6.99 on the brand’s official website. The company has “ambitious plans to be available worldwide” throughout 2023.
