Hi there, thanks for this question! Just like with a non-vegan diet, there are ways of making it cheaper or more expensive depending on the products you grab for. There are plenty of reasonably priced vegan products and alternatives on the market, and there are also just as many overpriced/expensive options. I would look at the things you want to replace, and then do a bit of research about what alternatives are available near you. For example, if you want a replacement for chicken nuggets, look up what vegan chicken nuggets are on sale near you.

Just like with meat, own brand products tend to be less expensive, so if you’re looking to cut costs, that could be a good place to start. If you think something seems too expensive, there are so many options available now that you can probably find the same thing or something similar for a cheaper price elsewhere. It is definitely possible to be a happy, healthy vegan on a budget, and while it can be expensive, it isn’t inherently so.

I hope this helps

Vegan lifestyle must not be expensive. It would be expensive if you always buy meat/fish supstitutes etc. But the normal meal cooking is not expensive.

Chulumanco,

Vegan lifestyle feels more expensive, more lucrative, more caring in a ndexpensive ways. more free of silly ways pf measuring expense and so yeah it is more expensive at the same time as totally agreeing with Kate’s answer above.

It is a little bit like when you fast you spend no money on food yet later it turns out to be the most exclusive week of your year, and is one of the most "expensive" ‘hobbies or treatments you can invent. expense gains a new outlook when you are a vegan as you enter this real of ethical existence and that’s expensive, isn’t it?

Of course it’s expensive! Vegans pay the full price and that’s what makes them strong. Carnists want everyone else to pay for their meal – and that’s a sign of weakness. If you want to feel the impact of your choices – you will see high prices and avoid them naturally! Then you’ll find the dry bulk section of the store and dig into dried peas, beans, oats, sunflower, etc. Then you’ll see how you’ve been skating by until a disaster hits and then even heavy subsidies can’t overcome that dumpster fire. Meat eaters end up paying full price and then really complain because their one meal ends up what you pay in a month! There’s no free lunch in life. Maybe carnists don’t pay at the store, but they pay in taxes and with their health. Maybe you pay a few dollars more per meal at most, but with each extra dollar is a dollar less at a hospital!
