The new chocolate is available in Asda and Ocado with an RRP of £3 for a 100g bar.
Confectionary giant Mars has added Galaxy vegan salted caramel bar to its dairy-free line-up, as part of a refresh of the range.
The new Vegan Salted Caramel bar is made with hazelnut paste and filled with salted caramel.
The Vegan Society certified bar is gluten-free, and dairy-free and is formulated to resemble the design and taste of its non-dairy counterpart.
‘Excited’
Michelle Frost is the general manager of Mars Wrigley Drinks and Treats. She said: “We’re excited to launch the same great silky smooth Galaxy taste in vegan varieties.
Last year, Galaxy Vegan accounted for 43% of the free-from chocolate block category. With the new SKU, the company hopes to grow its market share even more in the rapidly-expanding category.
“The launch of our new Galaxy Vegan Salted Caramel bar further strengthens our existing Vegan offering in free-from chocolate, which is now worth £26.4m, and growing at a rate of 19% year-on-year,” she added.
“This category growth shows no signs of slowing, and that’s why we are pleased to be bringing a trending flavour to those looking for a sweet treat, whether it be due to dietary necessities or lifestyle choice.”
Huge opportunity
The brand’s core vegan line-up now includes Galaxy Vegan Classic, Galaxy Vegan Orange and Galaxy Vegan Crumbled Cookie.
At the time these bars were launched, Kerry Cavanaugh, marketing director at Mars Wrigley UK said: “We’re so excited to be bringing these delicious treats to Galaxy’s range using a vegan recipe that doesn’t compromise on the brand’s signature smooth and creamy characteristics.
“Wherever you look you can’t avoid the vegan buzz in the UK. Even though vegan treats are currently only worth £10 million in a £4 billion chocolate market, we think that by introducing Galaxy, one of the UK’s best-known brands, there is a huge opportunity for the category to grow.”
The entire vegan range will be available in Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Co-Op from this summer, with an RRP of £3 for a 100g bar.
