Häagen-Dazs’ new plant-based collection is made from oats.

Nestlé-owned brand Häagen-Dazs has launched a new line of vegan ice cream in Canada.

The new range of oat-based frozen desserts features three flavours: Chocolate Peanut Butter, Vanilla Raspberry Truffle, and Caramel Fudge Chip.

“We believe that everyone, no matter their dietary preference, should be able to enjoy Häagen-Dazs,” Juliane Trenholme, Marketing Vice President at Nestlé Canada, said in a statement.

“Consumers recognise Häagen-Dazs for its creamy texture, simple ingredients and indulgent flavours which is why we created a new plant-based collection.”

Other vegan options at Häagen-Dazs

While the oat milk ice cream line is a first for the brand in Canada, Häagen-Dazs has released a range of vegan ice creams worldwide.

The New York brand debuted five flavours in the US in 2017. These included Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge, Coconut Caramel, Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle, and Mocha Chocolate Cookie.

In 2018, it expanded its portfolio to include Crunchy Peanut Butter and Coconut Cookies and Crème.

Häagen-Daz then added a Chocolate Fudge bar and a limited edition Non-Dairy Amaretto Black Cherry Almond Toffee the following year.

However, despite a growing demand for cruelty-free ice creams, the brand is yet to release new flavours in the UK.

Vegan ice cream brands in the UK

While Häagen-Daz fans in the UK have to wait for the brand to make a foray in the market, there are several other brands that offer delectable flavours to tickle your taste buds.

The most popular ones include Swedish Glace, which offers Italian-style vegan ice cream in various flavours like vanilla, raspberry, cinnamon, coconut, and chocolate. They also have a box of mini chocolate-covered ice creams available in major supermarkets like Tesco and Ocado.

Magnum recently dipped its toes into the vegan market with two tasty offerings: the Vegan Classic and Vegan Almond. They’re available from supermarkets, retailers, and some ice cream vans – and even at all Odeon cinemas.

You can’t have missed Booja-Booja’s cashew-based ice creams. They are raw, organic, and seriously decadent. You can pick up a tub in Waitrose, in Holland & Barrett, or online at Ocado.

If you’re a real chocolate fan then indulging in Jude’s chocolate vegan ice cream is pure heaven. They are velvety, creamy, and totally animal-friendly. Get your fix in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose, and Ocado.

The much-loved US ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s has also released a range of vegan flavours in the UK including Chunky Monkey, Peanut Butter & Cookies, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Coconutterly Caramel’d, and Change the Whirled.
