The new flavour is the sixth in Hippeas’ award-winning range.

UK snack brand Hippeas has launched a new limited-edition flavour in partnership with vegan meat brand THIS.

The Chickpea snack brand has created a vegan smoky bacon flavoured version of its puff snacks, ‘Isn’t Smoky Bacon’.

The flavouring used is the same as THIS plant-based ‘bacon’ and lardons.

Hippeas’ chickpea puffs contain a decent amount of nutrients. Each 22g bag contains 3.7g of plant-based protein and 87 calories. The HFSS approved product is also  gluten, palm-oil and MSG free  and as well as packing in 1.3kg of fibre.

The launch, which aims to “provide increasingly health-conscious consumers with a delicious, compromise-free plant-based snacking option,” is a first for both the brands.

It’s the first time THIS has entered the snacking category whereas it’s the first time Hippeas has collaborated with a fresh food brand.

However, the NPD is the sixth in Hippeas’ award-winning range. The other flavours include Salt & Vinegar Vibes, Sweet & Smokin’, Take it Cheesy, In Herbs We Trust, and Sriracha Chilli.

Commenting on the launch, Hippeas CEO Paul Nardone said: “We are delighted to be launching this limited time only partnership with the team at This. As two of the UK’s leading plant-based food brands it made perfect sense for us to collaborate on our ‘This Isn’t Smoky Bacon’ flavour.

“The product delivers against what we know consumers are looking for: maximised flavour and texture, alongside revolutionised nutrition to deliver better-for-you snacks.”

THIS co-founder Andy Shovel added: “Everyone loves bacon, snacks and being healthy. The assignment was simple to comprehend but hard to execute. Kudos to the legends at Hippeas for smashing it – these puffs are 10/10.’’

The new 22g limited-edition pack costs £1 and is available in Waitrose stores and via Hippeas’ website from this week.
