Adidas Originals- Samba and the Continental 80 have been revamped using vegan materials as part of the “Our Icons go Vegan” line.
Today, Adidas released animal-free versions of its classic sneakers- Samba and Continental 80 in the U.S. under its ‘Our Icons Go Vegan’ range.
Both the sneakers are constructed from a PU-coated recycled polyester upper. The Continental 80 also features an algae-based EVA foam in its midsole. The material supposedly helps to clean at least 30 liters of polluted lake water while being produced.
Adidas Originals – Vegan Continental 80
According to the brand description, the Continental 80 “that once found its rhythm in the packed fitness studios of the ’80s makes some new moves today.
“So swap out the bold colors of the ’80s and exchange them for a brighter future.”
The shoes are available in 3 colour hues: Cloud White, Collegiate Navy and Scarlet.
Adidas Originals – Vegan Samba
For the second pair, the brand writes: “The Adidas Samba shoes are no stranger to covering expansive ground.
“With the same look and feel as the original style, this version advocates for a better future with an entirely vegan design. The signature T-toe keeps them rooted in the soccer fields of the past.”
The shoes are available in 3 colour hues: Cloud White, Core Black and Gum.
According to the brand, the sneakers are 100% vegan since all materials including glues and colors, are free from animal ingredients.
Both the shoes are available to buy on the brand’s website for $80 a pair or 3 interest-free payments of $26.67.
Vegan Adidas
Adidas is one of the few sportswear companies that has released a number of vegan shoe models in recent times. Moreover, its long-term collaboration with vegan fashion designer Stella McCartney, has paved the way for a whole range of cruelty free, high-performing, and sustainable performance wear.
Its most popular vegan shoes listed by Vegans With Appetite in 2020 include: Alphaedge 4D, Ultraboost, Stella McCartney Stan Smith, Pureboost, Adillette Slides, Parley for women and Ultraboost, Parley, Denim Daily Sneaker 2.0, Questar Flow, Adilette Slides and Terrex Tracerocker for men.
