Aldi has launched a new plant-based range named ‘I Am Vegan’ to meet a growing demand among its customers for vegan food.
The company’s UK supermarkets will feature new high-protein quarter pounder burgers which cost £1.99 for a pack of two.
The I Am Vegan range is a new own-label Aldi range, and the company plans to release many more products under the brand.
The first addition, the quarter pounder burgers, are made with soya and pea protein and flavoured with smoked salt to give a chargrilled flavour.
The burger is also aimed at non-vegans looking to find a healthier burger option. The vegan product contains just 3g of saturated fat and has 20g of protein in each burger.
Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, Julie Ashfield, said: “The launch of I Am Vegan is in response to the growing popularity and appetite for vegan options amongst our customer base.
“We continue to review our range to ensure that it meets the needs of our customers and we look forward to expanding it even further over the coming months.
“The new burgers will be available in all stores nationwide, so why not head in-store and try them for yourself!”
The new own-brand range adds to the existing Mae’s Kitchen offer which includes No Sausage Rolls, No Beef Burgers and No Chicken Burgers.
