Aldi UK is kicking off the new year with its most extensive Veganuary range yet, with prices starting from just £1.49.
In what appears to be an effort to cater to the growing demand for vegan and vegetarian products, Aldi has significantly broadened its Plant Menu range. The updated lineup features an array of new products from no-chicken pieces and vegetable fritters to vegan breakfast pastries and innovative meat alternatives like no-fish burgers.
This expansion is part of Aldi’s larger goal to offer over 1,000 plant-based product varieties by the end of 2024. This ambition showcases not just a broadening of their product line but also a strategic move to attract a diverse customer base looking for affordable vegan options. The initiative aligns with a wider market trend where mainstream retailers are increasingly incorporating vegan and vegetarian products to meet consumer demand for sustainable and ethical food choices.
The retailer has observed significant sales upticks during previous Veganuary events, which underscores the growing consumer interest in plant-based diets. Aldi’s proactive approach in expanding its vegan offerings is also a response to competitive pressures, aiming to position itself as a leader in affordable, accessible vegan food.
This January, shoppers can explore a broad range of new and returning fan favorites under Aldi’s Plant Menu range, crafted to cater to both seasoned vegans and those curious about plant-based eating. The lineup includes several innovative offerings: Plant Menu Kimchi Kofta (£1.99, 240g), Plant Menu Tempura Frickles (£1.99, 200g) — deep-fried pickled gherkin chips in a golden tempura batter, perfect with dill mayo, and Plant Menu Tempura Vegetables (£1.99, 200g).
Also featured is the Plant Menu Plant-Based Egg (£2.49, 364g), a liquid whole egg replacer enriched with vitamins D and B12, suitable for scrambling, baking, or making omelettes in the oven, pan, or microwave.
Plant Menu Meal Kits are priced at £2.99, featuring diverse flavors including Keema No Beef with marinated vegan mince and golden garlic naan bread. Other meal kit options include BBQ No Pork and Pulled Hoisin No Duck, expanding the range of convenient plant-based dinner solutions.
For protein-conscious customers, Aldi’s range includes Plant Menu Gut Health No Chicken Smash Burgers at £1.99, available in Tex Mex, BBQ, and Chargrilled varieties. Additional high-protein options include the new No Chicken & Black Pepper Sausages and Salt & Pepper No Chicken Kebabs, both priced at £1.99.
A returning favorite is Aldi’s Plant Menu No Smoked Salmon, priced at £2.99, with each delicate slice smoked over beechwood to recreate the distinctive taste and texture of traditional smoked salmon.
Aldi is bringing back its Plant Menu Vegan Cheese Continental Selection for just £1.99 (100g/200g). The selection includes creamy Not’zarella Grated, intense Italian Style Grated, tangy Greek Style Block, and the versatile Baking Bert, enjoyable both hot and cold.
The new Veganuary range will be available in Aldi stores from December 30, 2024.
