The original ice cream bites have taken the media world by storm with more than 15,000 recipes and reviews on TikTok.
Supermarket Aldi has launched its own version of the trending Little Moons mochi ice cream treat, according to Vegan Food UK.
The Little Moons Mochi Ice Cream Balls – which have been around for a while – have suddenly developed cult status after they went viral on TikTok.
There are more than 15,000 recipes and reviews on TikTok for the mochi balls. Back in February, Tesco reported a whopping 700% increase in sales of Little Moons’ version, while Waitrose saw a 350 % rise in sales.
The mochi ice cream bite is a Japanese-inspired dessert made with an ice cream ball wrapped in a delicious rice flour dough.
The budget supermarket has now launched six flavours of the viral treat including tropical, mango and coconut.
The Tropical and Mango flavours are dairy-free making them suitable options for vegans.
Aldi’s wao mochi balls are more than 30% cheaper than the original.
Six wonderful balls of Iced dessert cost £3.49 and Vegan Food UK says: “These are at least £1 cheaper than you will find anywhere else.”
The wao mochi balls land in stores across the UK from the 17th of May.
‘Longtime favourite’
Shoppers have shared their excitement for the arrival of the tasty dessert.
One user wrote: “Oh my Little Moons has been my longtime favourite! Now I need to try this!”
“I hope they don’t all vanish, like little moons do. Can never find them anywhere,” commented another.
