“This 4th of July weekend, we’re excited to partner with DoorDash to further our mission to make plant-based options more accessible to all.”
A majority of Americans will be looking to cook plant-based meats at barbecues this year, according to a new poll.
The 1,000-person survey was conducted by DKC Analytics. It reveals that American behaviours around cookouts and grilling are changing this summer.
The data, which was calibrated to accurately reflect US adult age demographics and provide an even gender split found that over three quarters (78%) of Americans are intending to add plant-based meat to cookouts and BBQs. More than half (65%) are choosing to have plant-based options to eat healthier, especially millennials.
It also found that 73% believe grilling is an essential summer activity, more so than visiting family (69%) or dating (36%). Moreover, 60 % of respondents admitted to shopping last-minute for barbecue supplies with 72% stating they forget an item when doing so.
DoorDash X Beyond Meat
Findings of the survey have led delivery platform DoorDash to partner with vegan brand Beyond Meat to help make plant-based meat more accessible this grilling season.
Just in time for the 4th of July holiday, DoorDash and Beyond Meat will be offering a limited-edition grilling kit featuring the new Beyond Burger 3.0 patty in 14 American cities including Baltimore, MD, Chicago IL, Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Detroit, MI, Houston, TX, Indianapolis, IN, Las Vegas, NV, Los Gatos, CA, Minneapolis, MN, San Diego, CA, and Tampa, FL.
Starting 1st July, the $14.99 grilling kits will be exclusively available on DashMart – an innovative convenience store conceptualized by DoorDash for on-demand delivery.
Limited-edition grilling kit
Apart from the signature Beyond Burgers, the kit will have custom-made grilling mitts, aprons, grilling tools, a bottle opener, and a recipe card with custom dishes.
DoorMart will also offer a wide selection of beverages, ice cream, summer fruits, and snacks to accompany the basics in the grill kit.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Beyond Meat to offer customers their favourite grilling essentials conveniently from DashMart,” said Andrew Ladd, Director of New Verticals at DoorDash.
“At DoorDash we’re committed to bringing customers all the best of their neighbourhoods for every occasion, and as summer gets underway we’re excited to unveil this exclusive kit perfect for any barbecue while giving people access to the essentials they need on-demand.”
The even-better Beyond Burger
The partnership will also help Beyond Meat to promote its newest iteration, which it released earlier this year. It was redesigned to enhance the taste and texture of its classic plant-based burger.
The updated plant-based patty offers strong nutritional benefits such as 35% less fat, 35% less saturated fat, fewer calories and no cholesterol compared to an 80/20 ground beef burger patty. It has also been fortified with B vitamins and minerals comparable to the nutritional profile of beef.
Rebecca Infusino is the Vice President of Retail Sales at Beyond Meat. She said: “This 4th of July weekend, we’re excited to partner with DoorDash to further our mission to make plant-based options more accessible to all.
“There’s nothing more classic and delicious than a perfectly grilled, juicy burger on a hot summer day. We’ve made this classic pastime even better this summer with the great taste and nutritional benefits of our newest Beyond Burger, and the unbeatable convenience of having it delivered to your barbecue in under an hour.”
