Arnold Schwarzenegger is full of praise for a vegan diet, and the former bodybuilding champ is now almost entirely powered by plants.

Schwarzenegger has revealed he’s now ditched meat and dairy in favour of Beyond Meat and almond milk, while egg is the only non-vegan ingredient he still consumes.

The seven times Mr. Olympia champion recently starred on the Men’s Health “Gym & Fridge” YouTube series to give his fans a glimpse of his diet and exercise regime.

The 38th Governor of California now stocks his office fridge with vegetables, fruits, and vegan meat.

To meet his protein demands he whips up a smoothie with Califia Farms’ almond milk garnished with tart cherry juice, and banana. When temperatures soar, he prefers to cool down with slices of watermelon.

Arnold’s Diet Switch

Schwarzenegger has revealed he has turned more ‘health-conscious’ in recent years, moving away from his old diet that had him eating 10 to 15 eggs a day and a lot of meat.

“Now I eat more oatmeal, and greens, and vegetables, and healthy foods,” he revealed on Men’s Health.

“I stay away more from the meats and more from animal products, and animal proteins, because there was this misconception that that’s the only way you get big and strong, so now I back off that and I feel much better,” explained the actor-turned-politician.

In the video, he also cautioned his viewers on supplement abuse. He said: “They’re called supplements to supplement what you eat.

“So the key thing is not to rely on the supplements as much as you rely on good food. Natural food, a lot of greens, a lot of fruits, and a lot of really good proteins.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘The Game Changers’

Arnold Schwarzenegger has filmed a documentary releasing on September 17 – The Game Changers – profiling several plant-based athletes and celebrities.

With the docu-film he intends to dispel several myths about athletes requiring a high meat diet for strength, stamina, and endurance.

He said: “This is great, great marketing by the meat industry.

“Selling the idea that real men eat meat. But you’ve got to understand: that’s marketing. That’s not based on reality.”
