“With so many people living plant-based or flexitarian lifestyles today, we couldn’t be more excited to launch our new oatmilk-based option.”

Ice-cream giant Baskin-Robbins is adding an oat milk-based ice cream across the US next month.

The move makes it the first national chain to launch vegan oat milk ice cream.

The limited edition Non-Dairy Strawberry Streusel, is a ‘perfectly creamy, smooth and sweet scoop of plant-based goodness that replicates the indulgent experience of ice cream’.

It is packed with pieces of cinnamon granola and crumbly streusel swirled together with a strawberry ribbon in a creamy oatmilk base.

According to Baskin-Robbin’s, its experts worked really hard to create an oatmilk base that has the same smooth and creamy consistency of traditional ice cream with a slightly sweet oat flavour.

The new frozen dessert will be available at all 2,500 locations for the month of May.

Customers can order online at order.baskinrobbins.com or through the Baskin-Robbins mobile app for pickup via drive-thru, carry-out, or curbside where available.

The ice cream will also be available for ordering on DoorDash or Uber Eats from May 17- May 23.

In addition to May’s Flavour of the Month, the brand is planning to release additional oatmilk-based flavours later this year.

‘New flavor experiences’

Shannon Blakely, the Vice President of Marketing & Culinary, Baskin-Robbins, said: “We’re a brand that’s all about creating new flavor experiences and with so many people living plant-based or flexitarian lifestyles today, we couldn’t be more excited to launch our new oatmilk-based option.

“We’re so passionate about this new base and Flavor of the Month as it’s not just an evolution of our offerings, but a sign of our passion and commitment to creating what’s ‘next’ in frozen desserts.”

Vegan options at Baskins-Robbins

This isn’t the first vegan flavour introduced by the ice cream brand.

In 2019, the chain launched two vegan ice cream flavours made with a base blend of coconut oil and almond butter.

Baskin-Robbins is part of the Dunkin’ Brands Group, and its launch of the vegan oat milk ice cream follows this week’s addition of coconut milk to 9000 Dunkin’ locations nationwide.
