“The launch of Beyond Meatballs in Australia marks a new milestone towards our goal in making great-tasting, nutritious and sustainable plant-based meat more accessible to everyone.”
Vegan meat brand, Beyond Meat, is launching its popular plant-based Beyond Meatballs in the Australian market.
The pioneer in the meat alternatives industry has tapped again into the market by expanding its partnership with Coles amid growing demand for plant-based products.
Made from ingredients like peas and brown rice, the meatballs are gluten-free and soy-free. And, they offer 19g of protein per serving.
The meatless product will be sold across more than 300 Coles outlets with an RRP of $15.
Plant-based meat popularity
“We’ve seen demand for plant-based meat continue to grow as consumers look for new ways to incorporate plant-based meat options into their diets,” Ihab Leheta, VP of international business development at Beyond Meat said in a statement.
“The launch of Beyond Meatballs in Australia marks a new milestone towards our goal in making great-tasting, nutritious and sustainable plant-based meat more accessible to everyone.”
The meatballs join Beyond’s existing plant-based products – Beyond Burger and Beyond Mince – that were launched in the country in 2018.
Whilst they were exclusively available in Coles supermarkets at the time, the Beyond patties are not sold at many burger joints around town including Grill’d, Ribs and Burgers, Soulburger, and Lord of the Fries.
“We’re proud to expand our partnership with Coles to now offer our delicious, plant-based Beyond Burger, Beyond Mince and Beyond Meatballs to consumers throughout Australia,” Leheta added.
Beyond Meat’s global growth
The Los Angeles-based producer of plant-based meat substitutes continues to strike new partnerships, expand retail distribution globally and increase its plant-based portfolio with new innovative products.
Earlier this year, it signed an exclusive three-year deal with McDonald’s to supply the plant-based patty for the McPlant sandwich, as well as other plant-based chicken, pork, and egg products as part of McDonald’s broader McPlant platform.
Last month, it launched its Beyond Mince products at UK supermarket giant, Tesco.
The packs- available in the frozen aisle- cost £4.30 for a 300g pack.
Moreover, reports suggest that Beyond Meat is also set to launch vegan chicken in the UK later this year. More details about the launch will be released this summer.
