The coffee giant has enlisted a Gordon Ramsay lookalike to front its new Vegan Bac’n Bap campaign after the chef ‘roasted’ the brand on social media.
Today, Costa Coffee has launched a new Vegan Bac’n Bap across its UK branches.
The move is in response to the growing demand for savoury plant-based options.
The coffee chain already offers various sweet plant-based alternatives on its menu, including vegan bakes such as a gingerbread cookie, chocolate slice, rocky road and flapjacks, alongside vegan teas and coffees.
The bap costs £3 and features Finnebrogue‘s Naked Bacon Without The Oink! in a soft white bap along with either Heinz ketchup or HP Brown sauce.
‘Proud to be fake campaign’
To promote the new Vegan Bac’n Bap, Costa has roped in Martin Jordan, a look-alike of the celebrity chef Gordan Ramsey. He will front the “proud to be fake campaign”.
As part of the promotions, the coffee giant has released a TikTok spoof video of Jordan dressed in a chef’s uniform and cooking the new bap in Ramsay style.
It comes after the Hell’s Kitchen chef slammed the company’s meat bacon bap on a viral TikTok for having only one rasher of bacon inside.
‘Tasted b****y good!’
Jordon said in a statement: “My impersonation skills and experience were put to the test filming the trial of the Vegan Bac’n Bap, along with a rare chance to film as myself in my day job, which brought a fun element to the whole project!
“We’ll see whether Gordon agrees, as I’m no expert, but it tasted b****y good!”
A Costa Coffee spokesperson added: “Gordon Ramsay might be famous for pulling kitchens apart, but the country’s favourite look-alike definitely knows how to put our Vegan Bac’n Bap together.
“At Costa Coffee, we always look to challenge our alternative food offerings to provide as much choice for our customers as possible, and this breakfast alternative is very proud to be fake.”
