“We’ve always believed the best way to promote is to provide tasty plant-based food and provide raw factual environmental information!”

A vegan café has been ordered to remove ‘vegan propaganda’ graphics off its interior walls, Vegan Food UK reports.

Trading Standards have asked Plant Hustler in Bournemouth to remove all pro-plant-based information graphics off the walls of the inside of the café because it is misleading.

The murals on the wall present raw factual environmental information promoting the multiple benefits of eating a plant-based diet, while pointing out the environmental and climatic impacts of meat and dairy and other pitfalls of animal agriculture.

According to owner Aaron Bryans, it was part of the rebranding at Plant Hustler after it changed names from Dirty Vegans to its current title.

The eatery, which has been hit hard by all what’s happened over the last year is now left with little resources to redo the walls.

‘Mission to create conscious food eaters’

“From the outset our owner had a simple mission to bring tasty plant-based food to Bournemouth and to promote the benefits of plant-based eating,” the restaurant wrote on Instagram.

“We all know how beneficial it is not only for our health but for animal welfare and the environment. We’re here to make a difference and to create conscious food eaters, if you eat our food you’ve all ready started to make a change by taking a conscious food decision not to eat meat or dairy, whether it’s just for that meal or permanent it’s still a positive step.

“We’ve always believed the best way to promote is to provide tasty plant based food and provide raw factual environmental information!

“From that point the seed has been sown and people literally convert themselves into a positive change. Teach, don’t preach and the rest is history.”

Plant Hustler

Bryans, who went vegan for his health, launched the restaurant after getting frustrated with the options out there for vegans.

He currently manages the café and a plant-based deli that specialises in a vast range of meat-free products and seafood substitutes at Christchurch Road.

In an interview with Catering Today, he said: “All I wanted to do was take what I believed was the best of plant-based alternatives and promote them through my restaurant.”
