The pizza chain has announced that it will expand its menu to add vegan pizzas by early next year.
Joining Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Pizza Express, Zizzi, and other chains that offer delicious vegan options, Domino’s will now add the vegan cheese pizza to its menu across the UK and three other countries.
In a statement, PETAUK’s team said: “We’re excited that the vegan domino effect has finally struck Domino’s… it’s a vegan pizza chain reaction!
“By adding vegan choices to its menu, Domino’s will help meet the booming demand for vegan food and make it that much easier to live an animal-friendly life.
“Consumers who choose to ditch dairy spare cows immense suffering on factory farms and help combat the devastating environmental impact of animal agriculture.”
Domino’s spokesperson, Rachel Townsend said: ” We have been working hard to perfect a vegan recipe with the unmistakable taste of Domino’s fresh dough and cheesy goodness”
“We’re not quite there yet, but vegan pizza lovers shouldn’t have to wait much longer.”
Vegan Pizzas
While Domino’s began trialing a vegan pizza in selected Durham stores in 2018, it debuted an extended vegan range in Australia last month.
Domino’s Australia and New Zealand’s CEO Nick Knight said at the time: “We are proud of our new plant-based toppings, which are made in Australia specially for Domino’s, are just as tasty and affordable as the real deal.”
Pizza Hut launched its Vegan Pizza in 2017, and released its first fully-dedicated vegan menu in 2019.
Zizzi also added a vegan jackfruit pepperoni pizza to its new autumn menu after being one of the first restaurants to offer customers a vegan cheese pizza.
In September, Pizza Express added a cheesy vegan Calzone Verdure and a Baked Garlic Mushroom stuffed with vegan cheese alongside its already extensive vegan range at more than 400 locations in the UK.
