Fast food giant Dunkin’ has announced plans to introduce a Beyond Sausage Sandwich to more than 9,000 stores across the US.
The brand formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts has partnered with Beyond Meat to create the plant-based breakfast offer.
The sandwich is made with a vegan English muffin and a Beyond Meat sausage patty, and is normally served with an egg and dairy cheese, but both can be omitted to make the meal vegan.
The sandwich launched at Dunkin’ sites in Manhattan in July this year, and following a successful trial the company has decided to roll it out across every fast food store in the country.
“We are extremely proud of our partnership with Beyond Meat and thrilled to be the first US quick-service restaurant to offer Beyond Breakfast Sausage nationwide,” Dave Hoffmann, Dunkin’ Brands CEO and Dunkin’ US President, said in a statement.
“Dunkin’ is the brand that democratizes trends for America, and this latest addition to our menu gives consumers more choice to meet their evolving needs. As we continue to transform our brand, we’re proud to use our platform to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the great taste and benefits of plant-based protein.”
The new meat free sandwich will be available from November 6, and guests will be given free samples on November 8 and 9 to celebrate the launch.
“We’re excited to introduce the Beyond Sausage Sandwich nationwide and in doing so, offer an option with fewer calories, less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium, while delivering more protein and iron than a comparable pork sausage sandwich,” Beyond Meat CEO Ethan Brown said.
“We are excited that everyone who runs on Dunkin’ now has the option to make a delicious plant-based sausage sandwich part of their day.”
