Celebrity couple DeGeneres and de Rossi have invested in Miyoko’s as the brand prepares to launch new dairy-free products.

The couple have pumped an undisclosed figure to support the brand’s new product launches.

Since its launch five years ago, Miyoko’s creamery has successfully introduced 100% plant dairy products including vegan cheese, cream cheeses and butters.

The brand is now set to expand its vegan range by introducing nut free cheeses and oat-based butter in 2020 and the couple’s investment will facilitate the process.

“Being kind to one another is not just about people, it extends to animals as well,” said DeGeneres in a news release

“Portia and I have been customers of Miyoko’s Creamery for several years now and their cheeses and vegan butter have become staples in our home.

“As we learned more about the mission behind the products and about Miyoko herself, we knew this was a special and exciting company that we wanted to support,”

Both DeGeneres and de Rossi are philanthropists and often use their platform to campaign for animal welfare, the environment, and other social justice issues. Their involvement in Miyoko’s company is based on their shared interests in promoting a more ethical, humane and sustainable planet.

“We are particularly impressed about their (Miyoko’s) holistic perspective to the challenge of moving our society away from animal agriculture,” added de Rossi.

“They understand the big picture, farmers are part of the solution and require our support to transition away from current practices.”

Miyoko’s Creamery

Miyoko Schinner founded the company to spare animals from dairy production and produce organic and sustainable vegan alternatives.

“We have long admired and appreciated how Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have used their platforms to advocate for a better world,” said Schinner.

“With their support, Miyoko’s Creamery will be better equipped to do our part in helping to further this important shared mission.”

Earlier this month, the CEO announced that it was looking to bail out struggling dairy farms by partnering with them for producing its new line of cheese made from potatoes and legumes.

Speaking on the initiative, Schinner said: “Farmers are struggling, farms are closing, livelihoods are threatened, and we want to help the American farmer stay true to the land.

“We can’t truly move to a compassionate food supply without the support and participation of the farming community. They are integral to our ability to eliminate animal agriculture and lead us to a compassionate and sustainable food supply.”
