‘These products are unlike anything else that exists in the dairy-free cheese category. It’s a taste that only Chao can deliver!’
Field Roast, maker of the number one best-selling vegan cheese in the U.S. is expanding its Chao Creamery dairy-free cheese line by launching five new varieties of cheese in stores across the U.S.
The brand is releasing two new plant-based slice flavors: Smoked Original Slices, and Spicy Original Slices, as well as three new dairy-free coconut-based products: Creamy Original Block, Creamy Original Shreds and Mexican Style Blend Shreds.
While the Smoked Original Slices add a sharp bite and smoky finish, the Spicy Original Slices offer a hint of jalapeno and a creamy texture that melts like a dream.
The new slices join the brand’s previous flavors namely the Creamy Original and Tomato Cayenne-made with coconut oil and a fermented tofu ingredient that provides an unmatched buttery, umami flavor.
The Creamy Original Block and Creamy Original Shreds bring the brand’s classic cheese alternative into new formats, while the Chao Mexican Style Blend Shred combines the Creamy Original and Tomato Cayenne flavors to deliver a cheesy flavor with a kick of spice.
According to the company’s press release, the new Chao flavors and formats will be rolling onto shelves at more than 1,000 Walmart locations. Meijer, Hannaford, Food Lion and other retailers are expected to have the products later this year.
The items will retail for a suggested retail price of $5.99 although prices may vary by location.

‘More flavor potential’
“We took the fan-favorite Chao Creamery Creamy Original and expanded it into new flavors and forms that give consumers even more flavor potential in the kitchen,” said Dan Curtin, President of Greenleaf Foods in a statement.
“These products are unlike anything else that exists in the dairy-free cheese category. It’s a taste that only Chao can deliver!”
