Galaxy to finally launch a vegan white chocolate, says Insider

Global confectionery giant Mars is adding a sixth flavour to its dairy free range with the launch of a new vegan chocolate Galaxy bar, according to an Insider.

UK Snack Attack broke the news after posting an image of the new Galaxy Smooth White bar.

The Instagrammer wrote: “COMING SOON! The UK is FINALLY getting smooth white galaxy! Yes, it is vegan.”

The account added that details of its launch are yet to be disclosed.

Vegan Galaxy

In 2019, Mars first launched a vegan version of its classic Galaxy chocolate in three flavours: smooth orange, caramel and sea salt and caramelized hazelnut.

It later added the Galaxy Vegan Smooth Mint and Galaxy Vegan Crumble Cookie to the line-up.

The dairy in Galaxy’s vegan chocolate has been replaced by hazelnut paste and rice syrup. The products are certified by the Vegan Society. The packaging is also eco-friendly with the bars wrapped in recyclable foil, and housed in a recyclable cardboard sleeve.

Kerry Cavanaugh is the marketing director at Mars Wrigley UK. During the first launch in 2020 she said: “We’re so excited to be bringing these delicious treats to Galaxy’s range using a vegan recipe that doesn’t compromise on the brand’s signature smooth and creamy characteristics.”

“Wherever you look you can’t avoid the vegan buzz in the UK. Even though vegan treats are currently only worth £10 million in a £4 billion chocolate market, we think that by introducing Galaxy, one of the UK’s best-known brands, there is a huge opportunity for the category to grow.”

The trademark marketing manager at the Vegan Society, Abigail Stevens, added: “We’re proud to register Galaxy’s first ever non-dairy milk chocolate bars with our vegan trademark. The brand has demonstrated that dairy is not necessary to make great tasting chocolate, and that people can still enjoy their favourites without the use of animals.”
