The growth of vegan food has even spread to the virtual world after Google removed an egg from its salad emoji.
The company announced the decision and indicated the intention was to create an ‘inclusive vegan salad’ for its users.
That’s right, in a win for virtual vegans, the tech giant has accepted it must accept diversity and cater for cyber dietary requirements.
In a tweet this week, Jennifer Daniel, Google Emoji’s head of design, said: “There’s big talk about inclusion and diversity at Google.
“So if you need any evidence of [SIC] Google is making this priority may I direct your attention to the emoji – we’ve removed the egg in Android P beta 2, making this a more inclusive vegan salad.”

Apple is already ahead of the curve – featuring two salad emojis with no eggs in sight.
Google’s ovum-free salad depictions come ahead of World Emoji Day on July 17th, when it will reveal more diverse emojis, such as gender-neutral people, red heads and a revised look to their bacon rashers.
What’s not to love?
What do you think of Google removing the egg from their salad emoji and what other improvements they could make to their emoji range?
