Koukoumi Hotel created to ‘be a peaceful sanctuary for the sophisticated traveler’ will be the first vegan restaurant located in the quaint village of Ano Mera in Mykonos.

Koukoumi Hotel is set to be Greece’s first all-vegan hotel.

Located in the traditional village of Ano Mera on the island of Mykonos, the hotel is set to open this summer.

The hotel has been designed to reflect “Koukoumi” which means sheltered from the wind, a cozy place for snuggling in Myconian dialect.

Inspired by traditional Myconian architecture, the hotel designs are minimalistic, elegant and eco-friendly.

“The first and only vegan hotel in Greece aspires to offer a home not only to vegans but also to travelers who seek a healthy lifestyle during their vacations and want to discover the unspoiled side of Mykonos,” reads a statement released by the hotel’s management.

While Koukoumi’s 14 suites feature neutral and boho-chic elements, guests can enjoy the ethos of nature and a “feel at home” with coco-mat vegan mattresses, solar water heaters, and a magnesium pool.

“We can enjoy life without harming animals, the environment, or ourselves. [E]veryone can try out an alternative and peaceful way of being, satisfying at the same time all their senses,” the hotel’s website reads.

Vegan cuisine

The hotel’s menu has been curated by Chef Angeliki Charami and features Mediterranean and Greek-inspired vegan and raw cuisine, all of which are prepared using ingredients sourced locally and from the hotel’s fruit and vegetable garden.

“A vegan diet is natural, cruelty-free, and complete. It is a sensible choice for a healthy lifestyle. Fruit, vegetables, legumes, grains, seeds, and nuts presented in balanced combinations contain all the necessary nutritious elements that cater for the needs of every person from every culture or religion,” reads the hotel’s website.

It adds: “Our exclusively vegan restaurant with our delicious recipes will challenge you to reconsider everything you believed about food before!”

Health and Wellness

The hotel’s spa will offer a host of wellness treatments which include sauna, massages and a range of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments using vegan and cruelty-free products wrapped in handmade wooden, recyclable packaging.

The gym is fully equipped with custom-made cross-functional training programs, including pilates and outdoor activities. Certified trainers will offer outdoor fitness courses to help guests make the most of the island’s beaches and hills.

“You can build the body of your dreams no matter what your training choices may be while at the same time being vegan. It may sound contradictory but it is not, as proved by the Olympic Games’ athletes of the antiquity, who were forbidden to consume meat,” the hotel noted on its website.
