Impossible Foods and Vegan Women Summit (VWS) have teamed up to launch a new initiative that celebrates women leaders who are spearheading sustainability and food technology initiatives and innovations.
The summit, which is a global events and media organization hosts events with the goal to foster a community of strong, ambitious rising leaders working to bring compassion to their careers.
The new initiative called Women Building the Future is an inclusive program with the aim of bringing visibility to the many women leaders in food tech and spotlighting their remarkable achievements.
The organisers are seeking nominations of every global leader whose work impacts the fields of sustainability and agriculture.
According to them, nominees of all ages, all geographies, and all levels of their career “whether it’s innovating on food technology solutions, advocating in government, building a climate-focused nonprofit, or leading a sustainable eating initiative at your school,” are encouraged to apply.
However, applicants must be aged 13 years old and above to be eligible.
The nominated applications will go through a selection process and the final list of honourees will be declared on 1st June.
Selected women leaders will be invited to an exclusive program with pioneers in the food and sustainability industry, including Impossible Foods founder and CEO Pat Brown.
‘Leading the way for a kinder, more sustainable world’
Jennifer Stojkovic is the founder of Vegan Women Summit. The organisation’s recent Pathfinder event hosted the world’s first competition dedicated to female vegan founders.
More than 600 female founders from around the world pitched their business ideas for a chance to win a prize package worth $50,000.
Algaeing, a Tel Aviv-based company developing algae-based biofibres to revolutionize the textile supply chain was declared the winner.
Commenting on the new initiative with Impossible Foods, Stojkovic said: “Whether it’s innovating on food technology solutions, advocating in government, building a climate-focused nonprofit, or leading a sustainable eating initiative at their school, women of all ages and backgrounds are leading the way for a kinder, more sustainable world.
“Too often, women, particularly women of color, and their voices are overlooked and underrepresented in these industries. By partnering with the world’s leading plant-based innovator, Impossible Foods, we are excited to bring worldwide attention and support to these women and help them take their work to the next level.”
