Jaden Smith to launch Next New Balance Vision Racer in pink

The new vibrant vegan Vision Racer is the collection’s eighth iteration.

Jaden Smith has partnered with shoe giant New Balance to launch a new colourway of their vegan sneaker collaboration: Vision Racer.

The new kicks follow the “ReWorked” pair launched last month in celebration of this year’s Earth Day.

The Pink New Balance x Jaden Vision Racer is designed by Foot Locker’s incubation hub – Greenhouse- while taking cues from Smith’s favourite New Balance designs namely the X-Racer and 1700.

Similar to previous Vision Racer designs, the pink colourway – eighth iteration of the collection- is made with sustainable and vegan-friendly materials

According to New Balance, the bold silhouette pushes design boundaries and paves the way for sustainability-led footwear by merging  ‘classic New Balance design language with Jaden Smith’s unique, fashion-forward aesthetic’.

The shoe is made using a vegan leather upper made from PU layered onto a thin polyester base.  New Balance says the thin polyester base in these synthetic leather upper pieces is 60% recycled polyester while the upper textile, upper lining and tongue textile are made of 100% recycled polyester.

Smith and New Balance first partnered in 2017 with the musician’s passion for sustainability and progressive fashion, coupled with an appreciation for classic New Balance products leading to the “vision” behind the NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer.

He is also the brand’s official ambassador.

Commenting on the NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer, New Balance said: “As an iconic change-maker, Jaden exemplifies the New Balance brand philosophy of fearless independence. His convention-defying work in fashion and music, coupled with his dedication to philanthropy and environmental awareness, speak to larger global issues and how they impact his generation.”

The newest design will debut on 14 May and will be available at Newbalance.com, the Greenhouse app, and at Foot Locker stores for $150.
