Jaden Smith has taken another step to helping the less fortunate population of Los Angeles by announcing plans to give 10,000 vegan meals to the homeless.
The rapper has partnered with Café Gratitude to create a vegan meal called the I LOVE YOU Bowl, following the launch of his food truck earlier this year.
The 21-year-old musician, along with Smith family chef Tabitha George, will serve 10,000 ‘I LOVE YOU’ Bowls in house, and further serve 10,000 free meals on Skid Row from the I LOVE YOU truck in 2020.
The meal is made up of a variety of seasonal ingredients such as Brussels sprouts and butternut squash, with forbidden black rice and quinoa.
To add a personal touch, the meals are served in flamingo pink ceramic bowls inscribed with a handwritten “I love you” message from Smith himself.
Jaden Smith
Son of celebrity couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Jaden has been a social-justice advocate since a young age.
At 12 years, he partnered with Just Water, a spring water company that works to make cheap water filtration systems available in poorer areas.
Earlier this year he opened a free vegan food truck named I Love You Restaurant, in Skid Row, Los Angeles for one day with the aim of “giving people what they deserve, healthy, vegan food for free”.
Although the truck only offered food for one day on its initial launch, it has since made three stops and served 1,500 fresh vegan meals and 5,400 bottles of Just Water to members of the poorer sections of the society.
