“They smell as good as ever, classic Jammie Dodgers, and the filling is like sweet syrup with a faint hint of apple.”
Jammie Dodgers has launched a limited Halloween special Gooey Apple Slime Edition.
The iconic British biscuits filled with oozing green “slime” have gone on sale at B&M and Home Bargains for just 49p per pack.
Biscuit review
Popular Instagram snack critic account, Kevs Snack Reviews, posted its verdict after tasting the delicious treat.
“Firstly they smell as good as ever, classic Jammie Dodgers, and the filling is like sweet syrup with a faint hint of apple,” the snack super blogger wrote.
“It’s in there but just not very strong.”
While Kev felt the biscuit makers could have added “more oomph to the flavour” by adding “maybe a dash of cinnamon”, he added that the brand had still put in effort to make it a fun Halloween product when compared to others on the market.
‘Really liked the idea’
Sweet Reviews UK, another food reviewer, wrote: “We really liked the idea of an apple-flavoured jam as it’s something a bit different to the mainstream same old flavours we are seeing appearing on the market.
“We also think they look great for Halloween. They really look like slime!”
However, they added that while the slime effect was visible, “the most important part, the apple flavour, just wasn’t there.”
The sweet reviewer concluded: “It just tasted like sweet jam with a tiny hint of green apple but we really had to search hard to even pick out any resemblance of a flavour.
“So, a great product if you are looking for some Halloween inspired treats for a small family get together. Not so great if you love apple flavoured products.”
‘Got to try these’
Nonetheless, the new product has got fans excited.
“Look forward to trying my pack,” wrote one Instagram user
“These would acc be so nice I reckon,” commented another.
“Got to try these!!!!!!,” added a third.
