Crossroads Kitchen has started new cook-at-home meal kits in order to keep business running after restaurants shut down following lockdown rules.

Last weekend, Oscar winning vegan actor Joaquin Phoenix enjoyed a vegan barbecue meal from Crossroads kitchen.

While the LA-based vegan restaurant has closed for dine-in customers, it has started offering plant-based meal kits for customers to cook at home.

In a picture posted by the Crossroads on Instagram, Phoenix is seen feasting on plant-based burgers, sausages, beans, asparagus, and potato salad.

“We know what Joaquin Phoenix will be grilling this weekend—the Crossroads grilling kit! How about you guys? Call the front desk to order our kit to take home today?” the restaurant captioned the post.

Other celebrities grammed enjoying a meal from Crossroads  include television producer Mike White, actress Christina Applegate, and Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo.

Support and Feed

The restaurant is also part of Support and Feed – an initiative launched by Maggie Baird—mom to Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Billie Eilish—in LA and NYC.

In a separate post, the restaurant wrote: “Your donations are translating to real meals (these went to Project Turn Key).”

The idea behind the initiative is to support struggling vegan eateries during the COVID-19 outbreak as well as feed front line workers.

To be a part of the initiative, Customers need to choose a vegan restaurant of their choice from a list, which includes By Chloe, Crossroads Kitchen, Pura Vita, and Donut Friend in LA and Beyond Sushi, Marty’s V Burger, Urban Vegan Kitchen, and VSpot  in NYC.

They then place and pay for an order specifically stating it’s through Support and Feed.

Conscious Cleanup will then deliver the food to the chosen donation centers. Eight major Los Angeles hospitals, three food shelters, five housing and women’s shelters, two senior centers, and two police departments are included in the initiative.

“Please help,” Baird urged followers on Instagram earlier this month.

“You can order from any of these incredible plant-based restaurants.

“The food will be delivered to a needy organization in a safe, coordinated way when it works for them. With enough time for the restaurant to plan and prepare

“You can also add it to a personal order if you want food yourself!”
