“Our goal is to spark a conversation at the dinner table about how our food choices impact our planet, and how eating plant-based is the best way for kids to help combat the urgent threat of climate change and nature loss.”

Vegan kids are in for a treat!

Impossible Foods has launched two new products, one of which is specifically designed to get kids and parents talking about the connection between their food and the planet.

It comes six months after the brand staked its claim on school menus.

The Wild Nuggies – a first for the food tech giant – are made in unique shapes that represent vulnerable and critically endangered animals such as the Galápagos tortoise, black rhino, polar bear and right whale.

According to Laura Kliman, the director of new product development at Impossible Foods, the brand’s “goal is to spark a conversation at the dinner table about how our food choices impact our planet, and how eating plant-based is the best way for kids to help combat the urgent threat of climate change and nature loss.”

She added: “With our latest products, we’re showing kids and consumers that they can still have everything they love about meat, but without needing to consume any dead animals.”

The brand’s new animal-shaped nuggets have the same taste as the original Impossible Nuggets. In addition, they are cholesterol-free, pack in 10 grams of protein per nugget, and have 40% less saturated fat than the leading meat-based ones.

The plant-based nuggies also use 49% less land, 44% less water, and generates 36% less greenhouse gas emissions than standard chicken nuggets, as determined via a life cycle assessment.

Impossible Sausage patties

The other product is the Impossible™ Sausage Patties Made From Plants, which the Silicon Valley startup has launched for home cooks. It has the ‘same delicious characteristics of the company’s popular breakfast sausage found at restaurants nationwide’.

Each patty packs in 6gms of protein, contains 25%-35% fewer calories, 45%-55% less total fat and 40%-50% less saturated fat than its traditional counterpart. Moreover, it is available in two flavours— savoury and spicy.

Impossible products

The newest products add to the Impossible portfolio, which has been steadily increasing. Since August of last year, Impossible Foods has debuted meatballs, sausages, and chicken nuggets.

At the end of 2021, Impossible reported an 85% growth and also raised a whopping $2 billion in total investment funds.

Both the Wild Nuggies and patties will roll out at select US Walmart, Albertson’s, Shaw’s and Safeway stores this week followed by a spring release at Giant Martin’s, Sprouts and select Target locations. Nuggies will also debut at Kroger’s family of stores.
