‘We want our customers to experience the great tasting products that Leon has to offer in both our restaurants and in the comfort of their own home’
This week, UK fast food chain Leon has launched an extensive new product range including vegan ready meals and scrumptious vegan sides as part of its exclusive partnership with Sainsbury’s supermarket stores.
The new range follows the chain launching a selection of four vegan mayonnaises before its famous skin-on waffle fries at the supermarket last year.
According to Leon, the new range is inspired by its bestselling restaurant dishes, which include flavours from around the world and have been adapted into ready meals and sides for customers to enjoy in the comfort of their own homes.
Vegan ready meals
The food chain has developed four new healthy yet tasty gluten-free and vegan ready meals, which include:
- The Sweet Potato Katsu Curry – a gluten-free plant-rich dish with sweet potato wedges smothered in their delicious katsu curry sauce and served with brown basmati and red quinoa with fresh edamame beans to top.
- The warming Lentil Masala- a rich, coconut curry spiced with cumin, ginger & mustard seeds.
- The Coconut and Lime Jackfruit Curry-a Sri Lankan-inspired creamy, coconut curry packed with jackfruit, sweet potato and carrots, zinging with lime juice and fresh herbs.
- Lastly, the classic comforting Brazilian-style Black Beans dish, which has always been a leon favourite is also available in a ready meal format.
The ready meals priced at £4 each are stocked in the chilled ready meal section at Sainsbury’s supermarket stores and will for the first 5 weeks sell at a 50p discount.
Vegan sides
Also launching is Leon’s new range of five vegan, Mediterranean-inspired sides including “bites, nuggets and wings to keep your work from home menu fresh and interesting.”
For bites, the chain has launched 3 varieties:
The Mediterranean Mac ‘n’ Cheeze Bites, which it describes as: “Think herby, garlicky macaroni in a tomato and cheeze sauce covered in crispy breadcrumbs: perfect on their own and even better dunked in LEON Chilli Sauce.”
The Aioli Mac ‘N’ Cheeze bites come with a gooey, garlic-infused, mini macaroni and vegan cheese centre all in a crisp crumb.
The Chimichurri Cheeze & Herbs Bites come with vegan cheese, infused with parsley and green herbs in a crisp crumb making them another tasting vegan side.
According to Leon, the new Crispy Mushroom Nuggets made from king oyster mushroom slices dusted in porcini mushrooms and coated in a crispy crumb “perform double duty as a 100% plant-based alternative to a garlic mushroom starter when paired with our bestselling Garlic Aioli, or plate up nicely alongside some Waffle Fries and greens for a ‘Nuggets and Chips’ main.”
The Buffalo Caulipower Wings served with hot sauce crumb is the best accompaniment for your Netflix and Chill plans.
While sides are priced at £3 each, you can save 30p on all of these new products – so, stock up your fridge for just £2.70 each.
‘First Grocery anniversary’
Charlotte Di Cello, Chief Commercial Officer at Leon, said, “With our first ever Grocery anniversary around the corner, expanding our range will always be so important to us.
“We want our customers to experience the great tasting products that Leon has to offer in both our restaurants and in the comfort of their own home.”
