Neat Burger is planning to launch seven outlets across London by the end of 2021 in response to the ‘high demand for a totally plant-based offering’.

Vegan food chain Neat Burger – backed by Lewis Hamilton – is ‘rapidly’ expanding its presence across the UK.

Neat Burger-which opened its first outlet in central London in 2019 – currently has three locations – and further plans to launch seven outlets across the capital by the end of 2021.

According to reports, the next location of the ‘ethical, sustainable and delicious’ vegan joint is opening at Westfield Stratford City.

Last week, Unibail-Rodamco Westfield (URW) announced Neat Burger’s arrival along with a host of other retailers debuting at the retail hub.

‘High demand’

Zack Bish, the director of Neat Burger told the Evening Standard: “A few years ago, most people wouldn’t have been that into the idea of a plant-based burger restaurant, and restaurants had one option on the menu to cater for the vegetarians.

“The fact that there is now such a high demand for a totally plant-based offering is really encouraging and exciting.

“Even meat-eaters are going out of their way to choose plant-based options as the awareness of the effect it has on the world grows and grows.”

He added that although many operators are ‘nervous about a post-COVID world’ – the Neat Burger team believes “people are excited about getting out and eating together again.”.

Lewis Hamilton – vegan advocate

The F1 champ – a key investor in the vegan chain – often uses his platform to advocate the ethical, health and environmental benefits of a plant-based diet.

Recently Hamilton urged his 22.3 million Instagram followers to ‘please stop eating meat’ after sharing an article headlined: Confessions of a slaughterhouse worker on the platform.

His comment didn’t go down too well with the pro-meat lobby. Hill farmer Gareth Wyn Jones slammed the athlete saying he is ‘losing the plot‘.

‘Got this one wrong’

Taking to Twitter, the Llanfairfechan-based farmer posted a video to ask Hamilton to stop telling other people how to live and what to eat.

He said: “I really respect the guy as a racing driver, I think he is brilliant, but I think he has got this one wrong, and I tell you why.

“At four o’clock this morning I was up, out, checking on my cows and a newborn calf. All-day we have been checking on our sheep.

“My family have been on this farm for 370 years, producing sustainable food.

“Not only do we produce meat, we produce wool and we grow our own vegetables and we try to grow as much of our own fruit as we can.”
