The dairy free cheese giant has launched a food truck tour to promote its new allergen free vegan cheeses.
The plant-based dairy brand known for its creamy and rich cashew-based cheeses and butters is out promoting its new nut-free vegan cheese cheddar and pepper jack cheeses as well as its new cultured oat milk butters.
The new cheese variants launching this spring are the first in a new line of everyday cheeses. The brand known for its bespoke artisan cheese wheels has excluded cashews and made the new products from oats, potatoes, and legumes.
Miyoko’s Grilled Cheese Nation tour was supposed to begin at Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, CA on March 4 but the event has been postponed in response to the global COVID-19 outbreak.
However, that has not deterred the vegan cheese brand to kick off the tour from Oakland’s on March 10th.
Posting its activities on Facebook, the brand wrote: “The crowd is going wild for #TheOfficialCheeseOfOMGs at the #GrilledCheeseNationTour kick off in Oakland! Serving until 5 pm today!
“We’ve got 750 buttery melts made with Miyoko’s Cultured Vegan Cheddar.”
Excited fans queued up to taste the sandwiches and couldn’t stop praising the new vegan delicacy.
“Sarge and I went and LOVED Miyoko’s vegan grilled cheese!” wrote a Facebook user
“Can confirm: BEST GRILLED CHEESE EVER ???,” added another
The next stops for the week include:
Wednesday, March 11- Sacramento, CA
Saturday, March 14– San Francisco, CA
Sunday, March 15 – Petaluma, CA
Miyoko’s intends to distribute around 15,000 free grilled cheese sandwiches made with its new vegan cheeses and reach out to more people with its nationwide event.
In addition, the brand will price its first cashew-free vegan cheese options competitively with its dairy counterparts to entice more non-vegans to try the true plant-based replacement.
Founder and CEO Miyoko Schinner, who has been leading the plant-based movement for more than 30 years said: “We’re at a pivotal moment in the plant-based movement, where we need to start appealing more to flexitarians by creating products that give them the taste satisfaction of the dairy cheeses they are used to,”
“These new cheeses we’re launching have a taste and price that make them competitive with traditional dairy, and will help us cross that chasm to reach omnivores.”
The brand also stated that the new nut-free vegan cheddar, pepper jack cheeses and oat-based butters will launch in Whole Foods Markets nationwide from April.
“Breaking news! Whole Foods Market will be the first national retailer to carry our Cultured Vegan Farmhouse Cheddar, Pepper Jack, and Oat Butters. On shelves in early April!” the brand posted on Facebook.
