“The plant-based keto market is significantly underserved, and Mooala is filling a gap that has long existed.”
Organic, dairy-free brand Mooala has launched what it describes as the ‘world’s first keto-certified vegan milk’.
Made using MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) oil derived from coconuts, the new product range, created specifically for those who consume less sugar and carbohydrates- a characteristic of the keto diet – is said to be ‘the Ke-to your plant-based heart’.
Keto Mylk is available in Cinnamon Roll, Chocolaty Chip, Vanilla Crème, and Original flavors and each of them are certified USDA organic, plant-based, dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, carrageenan-free and non-GMO.
Each serving contains 70 calories, 1 g of protein, and 5g of MCTs. The drink is also fortified with vitamins and minerals such as D, calcium, iron and potassium.
The new product line joins the brand’s existing range of oat and almond based milks, as well as its best-selling Bananamilk, which it offers in Original, Strawberry, and Chocolate flavours.
‘Really satisfying beverage’
Commenting on the newest product, Mooala Founder and CEO Jeff Richards said: “Each morning, Mooala lovers can now wake up, pour Keto Mylk in a glass and jump-start their day with dynamic, energy-driving MCTs in an almost zero-carb beverage made from delicious, organic ingredients.
“Since the product’s high-quality fats are derived from coconuts, our customers can feel really great about meeting their desired goals while also boosting their plant-based diets with a really satisfying beverage.”
‘Filling a gap’
According to Keto Certified Foundation’s CEO, Karen Pendergrass, Mooala’s first-ever keto-focused milk alternative is a welcome innovation for keto consumers who find it difficult to follow a plant-based diet.
“The plant-based keto market is significantly underserved, and Mooala is filling a gap that has long existed,” Pendergrass said.
The drink is currently sold as a multi-serve I litre pack of six for $34 at shop.mooala.com. and at Sprouts stores nationwide.
The company has plans to expand the retail distribution of its Keto Mylk to approximately 1,000 major retail stores across the U.S. in the first quarter of 2021, including Wegmans, Whole Foods, Safeway-Albertsons and more.
