Nestle’s has announced its first plant-based oat milk drink under its Nesquik brand.
Nestle’s popular health-drink brand Nesquik has launched GoodNes, its first plant-based health drink made from a blend of oat milk and pea protein.
The product will hit the shelves of Walmart and other retail stores in the US soon.
According to the company, its new dairy alternative health drink closely matches the nutritional value of milk with 6 g of protein per serving along with 2g of dietary fibre. It uses stevia leaf extract and cane sugar for a natural sweet taste and has 40% less sugar than chocolate almond milk.
Versatile oats
Oats has been soaring in popularity due to its nutritional profile, multifarious properties and adaptability. The cereal has been widely incorporated in various plant-based commodities including milk, yogurt, ice cream, cheese, tacos and cosmetics.
In the plant-based milk category, oat milk is one of the most sought dairy free options. According to Nielsen data, the U.S. oat milk market was up by 636% to rake in more than $52 million over the past year.
Last October, plant milk giant Oatly launched oat-based ice cream in Chocolate Fudge, Hazelnut Swirl and Salted Caramel flavours.
Recently, international fast food chain Taco Bell debuted an oat-based meat-alternative called “Oatrageous Taco” in select restaurants in Finland and Spain.
Last week, New York City based Milk Makeup launched a new vegan moisturizer using a blend of oat, argan, fig, and a desert milk prototype derived from Kalahari melon, baobab, jojoba, and aloe vera.
