Nike collaborates with Maharishi to introduce its Vegan Air Max 90s made from reused sawdust, recycled foam, and organic cotton to celebrate the opening of its flagship store in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood this week.
The shoes bear signature features of both the brands. The upper is available in ‘maha Olive’ dyed with pomegranate and turmeric- trademark to Maharishi; whereas the outsoles are created from recycled athletic footwear and manufacturing scraps, courtesy of Nike Grind. The shoe company’s checkmark logo and other intricate details are made with sawdust obtained from powdering shipping palettes for a wood-grain effect.
The clothing brand, Maharishi, has been committed towards organic, environmentally friendly, durable, high quality and serviceable clothing since 1994.
The clothing label has been endorsed by celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Victoria Beckham, and is largely known for fusing functional military style with high fashion. You definitely can’t miss its signature olive color!
Vegan shoes are appealing several consumers as they prefer and opt for leather-free commodities. This design is Nike’s third vegan contribution with the first being vegan Air Max 1 x Air Max 97 with Sean Wotherspoon and the second being the vegan Air Zoom Pegasus 35 Running Shoes.
The Maharishi x Nike Air Max 90 will be exclusively available via online raffles this week and you can lay hands on it only in Maharishi’s flagship store in Tribeca or London. It will be retailed for £135/$150/€180 via the Maharishi website from August 30.
