A speciality pâté company has secured $515,000 funding to help provide vegan pâté to pubs and restaurants in the UK.
The Patchwork Food Company has secured the funding to open a new product development kitchen.
The company has launched four vegan pâtés earlier this year, which are available to restaurants and caterers.
The vegan flavours are Red Lentil & Sundried tomato with Chilli; Brown Lentil, Mushroom & Garlic; Brown Lentil & Hazelnut; and Red Pesto.
Rufus Carter, managing director, said: “Veganism is a trend that cannot be ignored by the food trade and we are delighted that we are able to respond quickly to consumer trends and deliver pâté for vegan menu options across the UK.”
“We have been making pâté for over 35 years and are keen to support the food service trade with tasty vegan options”.
Patchwork Foods has produced Vegan Brown Lentil pâté for more than 30 years.
The company won an award for its Vegan Red Pesto, fighting competition from 10,000 producers, to win a golden fork in Wales, 2014, from the Guild of Fine Food retailers.
The company also produces Mushroom Marmalade Relish for food service, which is also vegan.
