Pizza Hut has introduced a full vegan menu to all restaurants across the UK following the success of its first vegan pizza. Great news for the UK, but vegans across the world, and in the US in particular, are asking why they have been ‘tossed aside’ and given no vegan cheese to satisfy their cravings.
Pizza Hut has 253 sites across the UK, and will introduce a three-course menu in all restaurants to cater for a rapidly growing market.
The first vegan pizza introduced to Pizza Hut stores in 2017 and has since doubled sales expectations.
And during Veganuary the chain introduced the Vegan Jack ‘n’ Ch**se Pizza, which is now a mainstay on the menu.
Pizzas
Other new pizza options in the UK, all of which are made with Violife vegan cheese, include the Vegan Virtuous Veg featuring spinach, mixed peppers, red onions, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes, topped with rocket.
There’s a vegan version of a staple Margherita, or the Vegan Veggie featuring spinach, sweetcorn, mixed peppers, red onions and mushrooms.
For spice lovers there’s a Vegan Hot ‘n’ Spicy Veg, featuring peppers, jalapenos, red onions, flame roasted peppers and onions and Hut House seasoning.
To accompany a plant-based pizza, Pizza Hut offers Jack ‘n’ Rolls – dough stuffed with BBQ Jackfruit, vegan cheese and sweet chilli.
The company’s corn on the cob can also be ordered vegan as a side, and there’s now even a vegan dessert on offer – the Cinnamon Bites.
Reaction
Vegans in the UK expressed their excitement about the new menu launch on social media.
But for vegans outside the UK, it’s still a waiting game, and many vented their frustration about the lack of vegan options.
