Pret A Manger has dropped its surcharge for plant-based milk alternatives, added oat milk to its menu and is launching its vegan croissant just in time for Veganuary.
Pret customers can now enjoy their barista prepared hot and cold drinks without paying any surcharge for milk alternatives.
The sandwich coffee chain is also offering oat milk alongside rice-coconut and soy because of the milk’s soaring popularity across vegan milk consumers.
Announcing the news on Instagram, the chain wrote: “Say hello to oat milk (P.S. milk alternatives are now free).”
Vegan Pret a Manger
After launching its new range called The Vegan Classics in its Veggie Pret stores last October, which included vegan versions of four of its most popular sandwiches; the chain introduced a vegan croissant across both of its Pret and Veggie Pret shops nationwide on 7 January.
Called the Very Berry Croissant, the pastry is made using margarine and sunflower oil in place of butter to create a light, fluffy texture akin to a traditional croissant.
The vegan pastry priced at £1.70 has a sweet berry compote filling with sugar sprinklings for a sweet and tangy twist.
“Over the past couple of years, we’ve worked hard to bring new vegan and veggie options to our menu. The launch of The Vegan Classics in Veggie Pret has been a real success but we knew from talking to our customers that it was time to bring more options to the breakfast menu,” said Hannah Dolan, Pret’s Global Head of Food Innovation.
“The Very Berry Croissant is just the beginning – we are looking forward to sharing more plant-based innovations with customers in 2020.”
