Pret a Manger will launch vegan versions of four of its most popular sandwiches, baguettes, and wraps in a new range called The Vegan Classics in its Veggie Pret stores.
The high street coffee shop has added more vegan options after completing its largest menu uphaul in 33 years.
The brand announced it will add vegan versions of four of its most popular sandwiches as a result of listening to what its customers wanted.
The Pret team had asked customers on social media: “Our chefs are busy developing vegan versions of our classic sandwiches, wraps and baguettes exclusively for Veggie Pret. Tell us below which recipes you’d like to see ‘veganised’.”
The post got them several recommendations as customers were looking forward to plant-based versions of everything from mac and cheese to croissants and cheese ploughmans.
Pret Global Head of Food Innovation Hannah Dolan said: “Veggie Pret is a space where we’ve had a great opportunity to experiment with vegan and veggie food.
“It’s our mission to make it easier for customers to eat less meat, so we challenged ourselves to recreate the delicious flavors and textures of our meaty bestsellers, using only vegan ingredients.
“We’re excited for everyone, (vegans and non-vegans alike), to try The Vegan Classics – and to see if they can tell the difference between the new vegan recipes and the originals!”
Veggie Pret
Pret started Veggie Pret as a pop-up on Broadwick Street, London, in 2016, to serve its vegetarian customers.
The initiative was such a hit that the international chain converted it into a permanent space and has since opened three more shops in London and Manchester with a fifth one due to open later this month in Canary Wharf, London.
