The star is reportedly a vegetarian but is known to be an outspoken critic of factory farming.

Actor and comedian Ricky Gervais took to Twitter to show off the vegan Christmas dinner his wife made him eat this year.

Speaking to his 14.5 million Twitter followers, the celeb, who’s ‘as good as married’ with Author Jane Fallon, posted a picture of an empty dinner plate on Christmas with a Brussel sprout leftover.

He captioned the image: “Jane tried to sneak in a Brussel sprout. I spotted it immediately. Nice try.”

Gervais’ diet

While Gervais has  not confirmed whether he is vegan, he regularly broaches subjects such as animal rights and environmentalism on social media.

In an earlier interview with Hollywood Reporter, he said that pasta with vegan meatballs,  tofu stir fry with noodles and vegan lasagna were his go-to comfort foods especially during the COVID pandemic.

Recently, the celeb also signed an open letter alongside a group of more than 100 international celebrities, athletes, activists, politicians, and business leaders including Jane Goodall, Paul McCartney and Bryan Adams, which called for more people to take the Veganuary pledge next year.

The organisation has revealed that so far “250,000 people have already signed up to try vegan with Veganuary this January!”

80% vegan

For her part, Jane Fallon claims she is 80% vegan and also took part in the Veganuary challenge last year.

She tweeted a picture of her breakfast meal and captioned it: “My big fat vegan breakfast- seeded bread, 4 rashers of ‘This Isn’t Bacon’, shiitake mushrooms, spinach, 1tsp olive oil. 311 calories, 46 g of protein, 30g carbs. Yummy.”
