Sainsbury’s has unveiled its vegan Christmas offer, which includes mouth-watering festive plant-based meals, trimmings, puddings, and pastries.
The UK supermarket has started pre booking orders for its festive menu, which customers can then pick up from their local store from December 22 to 24.
It will offer a plant-based version of the staple Christmas pigs in blankets, made from peppery vegan mushroom sausages wrapped in vegan bacon, as well as mushroom stuffing balls with sage, lightly seasoned with cracked black pepper.
The main dish will include a Vegan No Beef Wellington featuring a succulent mushroom, parsnip and seitan loaf layered with tender spinach leaf and a rich mushroom, porcini and port wine duxelles crisp and golden puff pastry.
The supermarket has also created an exclusive vegan lentil, cranberry and almond melt in the middle pudding made with lentils, onions, cranberries, apricots and almonds. The savoury pudding features a vegan cheese sauce. You can boost the dish by pouring on a gooey and sweet cranberry and redcurrant glaze.
Sainsbury’s festive showstopper is its visually appealing jewelled root vegetable wreath with mixed berry sauce. The dish is studded with sweet cranberries, pomegranate seeds and crunchy pumpkin seeds on a wreath of chunky butternut squash, sweet potato and chestnut complete with a drizzle of the sweet berry glaze.
Last on the festive list is the Three Nut & Mushroom Roast with Redcurrant & Port Gravy. The dish is a mouthwatering alternative to the traditional turkey roast, instead including crunchy cashews, almonds, pistachios, mushrooms and butternut squash.
