The coffee chain is making exciting vegan additions to its UK menu in time for Veganuary.
Coffee giant Starbucks is launching a new Nut Blend Milk for Veganuary, Vegan Food UK reports.
The new announcement comes close on the heels of Starbucks unveiling a new vegan menu comprising a Beyond Meat breakfast sandwich, a ‘Cheese’ & Marmite Mini Ciabatta, Chick’n & BBQ Bean Hot Wrap, and a Sweetcorn Fritter Wrap.
Describing the latest offering, Vegan Food UK wrote: “One assumes this is going to be the dog’s nuts.”
Although further details of the launch are yet to be announced, one follower of the food account guessed the blend will be “made with a blend of cashew, hazelnuts, and rice!”
Starbucks’ Planet Positive Future
Starbucks is steadily increasing its vegan options in line with the company’s Pathway to a Planet Positive Future initiative, which aims to slash carbon emissions, water, and waste by 50 % by 2030.
Earlier this month, the coffee chain launched oat milk across the US after testing the dairy-free alternative in 1,300 outlets at the beginning of the year. It will be rolled out in all US stores by Spring 2021.
In June, Starbucks added a vegetarian Impossible Breakfast Sandwich to most outlets in the US along with rolling out its first vegan cold foam, made with almond milk.
While that sandwich cannot be ordered vegan because of its pre-packaged animal product filling, the chain is currently testing a fully vegan sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich at one location in Issaquah, WA.
“Our Planet Positive initiatives have a central role in our long-term business strategy, and directly address what our customers are asking for,” Starbucks CEO, Kevin Johnson, said.
“We are moving toward a more circular economy, and we are doing so in a very intentional, transparent, and accountable way.”
