The former Hear’Say singer has revealed how eating plant-based, ditching alcohol, exercising, and meditating has helped her overcome her struggles with mental health and weight gain.
Suzanne Shaw has gone through a radical transformation, which she credits in part to following a plant-based diet.
The English actress, singer, and television personality, who is best known for winning the talent contest Popstars as well as being part of the Hear’Say band revealed the staggering scale of her weight loss on social media.
Shaw posted a before and after snap of her physical transformation and disclosed that she achieved her svelte new frame by making some fundamental changes to her lifestyle.
The 39-year-old adopted a plant-based diet, ditched alcohol, started meditation, and included running as a form of exercise to battle her mental health issues and years of failed weight loss attempts.
‘Desperately unhappy’
Recounting her experience, she wrote: “At the beginning of 2020 I wanted to change my lifestyle but not like I’d done in the past… starting a new regime for it to last 8 weeks max and then fall off the health wagon and then try a new type of diet or fitness regime and a few months later, fail again and turn to the blame game!
“I wanted to TRULY change it and not let myself down for the 20th year in a row!”
She said that after taking a “long hard look at myself in the mirror”, she realized how “desperately unhappy”, she was because although she has never been “massively overweight”, she had put on so much weight that she was at her heaviest size without being pregnant.
“It was all down to eating and drinking (alcohol) my emotions. I’d found myself stuck in my past being angry with the world and in major fear of my future – I was completely unrecognisable to myself,” she admitted.
‘The Shaw Happy Plan’
She told her followers that she then resolved to make a difference by not trying to lose weight to only fit a smaller size dress but to be happy again.
Calling it the ‘The Shaw Happy Plan’, the singer revealed the four main elements to her happy plan and losing weight include: “running, going alcohol-free, plant-based diet and mindfulness & meditation.”
“And for the first time EVER, I have stuck to it! I’ve completely transformed my life and I’m HAPPY again!!!,” she wrote.
“Oh and I’m back into a size 8!”
