“Guest demand for plant-based offerings is incredibly high and continues to grow.”
US retailer Target is rolling out its own line of plant-based foods as demand for meat and dairy alternatives continues to grow.
According to Neilsen, retail sales grew about 28% over the past year, prompting Target to further expand its plant-based assortment – which has increased fivefold in the past three years.
The new line of meatless and dairy-free products will debut with more than 30 offerings, including vegan spreads, almondmilk creamer, oat milk, plant-based dips and meat and chicken alternatives -all under the brand’s flagship ‘Good & Gather’ label.
Target launched its food brand in 2019 in an attempt to take on its grocery store’s private labels.
With all items being priced under $8, the retailer describes the new Good & Gather Plant Based line as “on-trend, flavorful, high-quality options at incredible value.”
The new offerings will start rolling out on its website and in stores through fall.
‘Demand for plant-based is incredibly high’
“Good & Gather Plant Based reinforces the brand’s commitment to products that prioritize great taste and quality, with the value only Target can offer,” Rick Gomez, executive vice president and chief food and beverage officer at Target, said.
“Guest demand for plant-based offerings is incredibly high and continues to grow.
“By adding ‘Good & Gather Plant Based’ to our curated assortment of plant-based offerings, we’re giving guests more of what they want and making it easy for them to discover the joy of food every day.”
