Impossible Foods is set to launch a vegan beef steak following the raging success of the Impossible Burger.
In an interview with The Spoon, Pat Brown, founder of the plant-based company, shared plans to launch a fully vegan steak.
“The next categorically new product that we are going to launch is almost certainly going to be beef steaks,” he said.
“And that’s because the biggest impact we just decided that, to maximize progress on our mission, right now the most impactful thing we can do is to make products that compete against the beef industry.
“If we can make an awesomely delicious world class steak … that will be very disruptive not just to the beef industry, but to other sectors of the meat industry.“
No launch date has been provided by Impossible Foods to date.
“Our new product delivers all the taste meat lovers crave — without compromise to nutrition or the planet,” Brown added.
“This is the plant-based meat that will eliminate the need for animals in the food chain and make the global food system sustainable.”
Mission
It seems the bleeding burger and a vegan steak is just the beginning for Impossible Foods.
The company’s mission explains: “Using animals to make meat is a prehistoric and destructive technology.
“We found a way to make meat using plants, so that we never have to use animals again.”
The company said in a tweet in May last year that there is no Impossible Steak yet.
“But we plan to release many more meat and dairy products from plants in the coming years. The Impossible Burger is only the beginning,” the company added.
