A new star-studded documentary which showcases the benefits of plant-based eating for elite athletes is set for release today (September 16).
The Game Changers is a ârevolutionary documentary about meat, protein and strengthâ which dispels myths about plant-based diets.
The documentary features high profile sports stars including Lewis Hamilton, Novak Djokovic and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who are all executive producers.Â
âI ate a lot of meat. They showed us commercials selling the idea that real men eat meat. But youâve got to understand â thatâs marketing. Thatâs not based on reality,â Schwarzenegger says in the trailer.
The Game Changers features interviews with Farris Kendrick, a weightlifter who has broken two American records, alongside a wide range of sports stars including body builders, cyclists, runners, American footballers, racing drivers and boxers.
âOne of the biggest misconceptions in sports nutrition is that we have to have animal protein to perform at a high level. Thatâs just not true,â a narrator explains.
The documentary also speaks to sports stars who have recovered from injury faster on plant-based diets, and teams which have performed above expectations.
The Game Changers will premier in 1,000 cinemas globally on September 17.
The filmmakers explain: âThe Game Changers is a new film executive produced by James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan that documents the explosive rise of plant-based eating in professional sports, mixing real-time, groundbreaking science with cinematic stories of struggle and triumph.
âThe film features some of the strongest, fastest and toughest athletes on the planet â and itâs backed by them too â with additional EPs including Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton, top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic, and nine-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul.
âDirected by OscarÂŽ-winner Louie Psihoyos, follows the story of James Wilks â elite Special Forces trainer and winner of The Game Changers The Ultimate Fighter â as he travels the world on a quest for the truth about meat, protein, and strength. Showcasing elite athletes, special ops soldiers, and visionary scientists. Wilksâ journey exposes outdated myths about food that not only affect human performance, but the health of the entire global population.â
