“Compassionate shoppers everywhere can now look to TRESemmé for professional quality hair products that are not animal-tested.”
One of the most widely recognised hair-care brands TRESemmé – owned by Unilever – has banned all animal tests for its products worldwide.
The move comes after working with vegan organization PETA and as part of a wider Positive beauty vision aimed ‘to do more good for people and planet’.
TRESemmé is the 24th brand in Unilever’s portfolio to be approved by the animal rights charity and will be added to its Beauty without Bunnies list.
The parent company is also advocating for a global animal testing ban for cosmetics by 2023.
‘Critical to our values’
“Not testing any of our products on animals is critical to our values at TRESemme,” Global Brand Vice President at TRESemme, Berengere Loubatier said.
“PETA’s Beauty without Bunnies Program is recognised worldwide for its high-quality standards and rigour, and we are proud to be a brand that is officially PETA Approved.
“With TRESemme’s range of professional quality products, women can own their personal style while knowing that none of our products are tested on animals.’
‘Feel beautiful from the inside out’
Kathy Guillermo, SVP, Laboratory Investigations Department at PETA added: “PETA Global Beauty Without Bunnies Program welcomes Unilever’s iconic professional haircare brand, TRESemmé to our list of companies that have banned all tests on animals.
“Compassionate shoppers everywhere can now look to TRESemmé for professional quality hair products that are not animal-tested.
“We agree that every woman should look and feel fabulous – and by using animal test-free products, we can all feel beautiful from the inside out.”
The ‘PETA-Approved’ logo will appear on TRESemmé’s packaging from January 2022. However, not all of the brand’s offerings are suitable for vegans since some products still contain animal-sourced ingredients such as milk, honey, lanolin, and silk.
