UK bar chain Slug & Lettuce has launched a new summer menu featuring 12 new vegan options.
The company, which runs 70 sites in the UK, has shifted its focus to be more plant-based to keep up with consumer trends.
New vegan options include the Smoky Soya Sloppy Joe tostada with vegan smoky bacon-flavoured crumb, Violife cheese, crispy onions, peppers and vegan mayo.
The plant-based options also include the Moving Mountains burger with a ‘B12 plant-based patty’ in a beetroot bun, the Chickpea and Kale Salad, as well as Salted Caramel Bites.
Slug & Lettuce has also introduced a selection of open sandwiches and a range of ‘Insta-worthy cocktails’.
The new menu will be available from May 15.
The company has been reacting to a surge of veganism throughout this year, and introduced a plant-based range during Veganuary.
During January the menu featured Vegan Nachos, Vegan Thai Curry, Vegetable Beetroot Linguini, Quinoa Chilli Salad, Weatberry, Beetroot and Couscous Superfood Salad, Lemon Sorbet and Lemon, Blueberry & Prosecco Bites.
The company joins a surge of high street brands introducing vegan options. The new Greggs summer menu features both the vegan sausage roll and the Mexican bean wrap, while in the US Burger King is rolling out a plant-based Impossible Whopper due to staggering demand.
