Vegan athlete breaks world record for longest ever plank

A vegan athlete has smashed the world record for the longest ever plank.

Dana Glowacka held the position for an incredible four hours 20 minutes and now holds the official women’s world record.

The athlete posted on Instagram: “I’m so grateful. Truly, if you put the whole of you in what you believe, you gonna make it! Thank you.”

“I have been training for four years with George Hood. Four years with four hours and 20 minutes done. It takes the mind to keep the body up.”

The record beat the previous world’s best by more than an hour.  Glowacka also more than doubled her 2016 performance at the International World Cup Plank Challenge in Beijing, where she clocked in at 2 hours 5 minutes.

The abdominal plank requires athletes to support their body with their forearms while facing the floor.

A correct plank requires a straight back with all weight placed on the toes and forearms.

For most people, a time of between 30 seconds to one minute is challenging, but Glowacka’s Instagram shows she’s been developing her core and abdominal muscles for years.
