Snack company Graze has been forced to recall a product labelled as ‘vegan’ after investigators found it contained milk.
The Food Standards Agency said the Sea Salt and Vinegar Veg Crunchers were a ‘health risk’ for people with milk allergy and intolerance.
The blunder by Graze not only poses a risk to safety of consumers, but will also stir up anger from vegans who reject anything which contains animal products.
FSA said the batches containing milk have best before dates of 20 June, 28 June and 2 July 2019.
Graze admitted the product was falsely advertised with an ‘incorrect vegan claim’ and warned consumers with allergies and intolerance against eating the product.
The company said in a statement: “The health and safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to us.”
No other Graze products are believed to be affected by the mistake.

Graze
Graze was founded in 2008 in the UK, and has since undergone rapid expansion. The ‘healthy snack’ company is available in major UK stores including Sainsbury’s, Boots, WH Smith and Tesco.
It’s also now stocked in thousands of stores across the US and reported annual revenues of £75.8 million in 2017.
A spokesman for the FSA said: “Graze is recalling Sea Salt & Vinegar Veg Crunchers because it has been incorrectly labeled as suitable for vegans, however the product contains milk,” said the Food Standards Agency.
“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”
